Learning Through Play Campaign

The Kina Rwanda Play Books preserve Rwanda’s rich tradition of play-based learning by documenting both traditional cultural games and modern educational activities.

Each game is presented with step-by-step instructions, required materials (including DIY alternatives using common household items), scoring methods, and the key skills children develop through play. The Play Books also offer practical guidance on how parents can actively engage in these activities, strengthening family bonds through shared experiences.

We toured 5 districts across Rwanda with our play caravan, aiming to activate play, redefine play, and promote learning through play as an integral part of children’s development. We hosted events in Kigali, Bugesera, Rubavu, Musanze and Nyanza across June and July 2022. The events equipped parents and caregivers with the information and tools needed to create more play moments with their children.

By blending culture, education, and innovation, Kina Rwanda Play Books are more than just games; they are tools for learning, creativity, and cultural preservation, ensuring that the rich traditions of Rwandan play continue to inspire future generations.
